What We Do
Medical Santo is dedicated to integrating in partnership with the Vanuatu Ministry of Health to provide support and to capacity build the local medical staff which respects the local community, meets human needs both physical and spiritual, and works for a lasting change in the lives of all those we interact with.
Primary health care services
Provide a General Practitioner service with mobile clinics to rural and island communities. Coordinate visiting doctors, specialists and educators to provide services from our clinic, in rural and island communities and at the Northern District Hospital.
Provide after hours treatment in our clinic for emergency situations for all. Provide relief and support for patients presenting with serious illness, monitor and facilitate further medical treatment if required.
Provide visiting dental practitioners for short term clinics for the care of patients. Take mobile clinics into the rural and island communities to provide dental services to those in need. To provide oral health education and training to schools and parents everywhere.
To facilitate all of our volunteer medical professionals to provide medical education, training and mentoring to Ministry of Health medical staff. Provide education and training to all communities on good health, diabetes, hyper tension, paediatrics, women’s health, wound management, oral hygiene, NCD’s, substance abuse, and other medical and good health topics.
Develop capacity and resources within the Vanuatu Ministry of Health services both in the Northern District hospital and in rural and Northern island communities. To provide overseas medical staff to assist in the professional development of the Ministry of Health staff to bring current medical treatments and procedures into the Vanuatu system. To work together Partnering in Sustainable Health for Vanuatu.
Continue to build on our provision of training and education of staff, employees and the public in first aid for the treatment of minor and serious injuries that happen in the home, the work place, at school or on the street. To develop a teaching package for the education of school students in basic first aid training and healthy living to promote a long and fruitful life.
